Why I created the Keto Cleanse
I remember when I entered this field at age 23 and the challenges of deciphering which information I read was accurate to pass along to clients seeking the truth about health.
Since the advent of the internet, we’ve been blasted with information we searched and didn’t search. Then algorithms took over feeding us with information that supports our desires and validating what we believed to be true.
Most people won’t look at non-mainstream material that goes against what they want to hear/read or have learned which tends to be decades old information ingrained in our mind.
I have 30 years of experience in this industry and learn something new daily.
However, there are certain foundational rules that have yet to change.
There have been adjustments made to long-standing mentions of how we “should” eat.
In 2010 the human genome was fully mapped. A genome is an organism’s complete set of deoxyribonucleic acid (DNA), a chemical compound that contains the genetic instructions needed to develop and direct the activities of every organism. It’s much more difficult now for a professional to recommend a healthy way of life without first testing that individual for how their body will utilize fat, carbs and protein, especially during exercise.
You may wonder why some people have a profound benefit from one diet and others don’t. Our genetics and of how we utilize fat, protein and carbs is not the same for everyone.
With that said, if you lack structured, conscious eating, which I refer to as Eating Blindly, then you’re more likely to have a compromised immune system and excess fat. Having structure, even with a less than optimal diet, and you’ll see benefit. Dismissing unhealthy food and conscious awareness almost always makes a person make better choices when type and amount of food is topic-of-mind.
What I’m about to share with you is from my personal experience on my first diet ever.
I’ve never needed to be on a diet in my life. Being an ectomorph, it was always hard to put weight on, however, getting older left me unhappy with my muscle to fat ratio.
So, I decided to try keto eating for three reasons.
- The Ketogenic diet was created in the 1920’s for medical uses (epilepsy)
- The science is the strongest of any diet thus far
- Results are fast and blood work doesn’t lie
For those of you who may suggest Paleo or Mediterranean as the most researched, always look at who’s backing or performing the research. Yes, these two eating plans can be healthy. Ask yourself if they have worked for you long term to curve carb/sugar cravings, lose excess fat and balance blood sugar .

Results don’t lie, if any three of these diets work for you, then it would be prudent to stick with it as a lifestyle, not a diet with a timeline.
I am a foodie and rebel when it comes to structure in that part of my life. For years I’ve eaten a whole pizza almost weekly. I looked forward to it as if it were a drug and needed my fix. Interestingly, while eating the keto way and using my own cleanse there was and still is no mentally restricted feeling as though I’m missing out on my pizza. Of course, with eating high fat, there are no hunger issues every two hours. Since April 2018 I’ve had 3.5 pizzas. One time I forced myself to have one without any physical craving. It was a mental desire more than anything. Although I enjoyed it, it wasn’t the same and one time I couldn’t finish the whole pizza, hence the .5 above.
My food bill decreased by $300 per month and blood data below shows proof I’m healthier now without having to try so hard to be aware of what I eat or count calories.
Being 50 years old, with 20% less muscle (beginning age 30 we lose 1% muscle mass per year) it’s much more challenging to keep fat off, eat what I want and stay healthy.
August 2018, on my radio show I mentioned the profound changes I experienced on the Keto diet. Podcasts Itunes Iheart radio @georgedigianni
Cholesterol helps maintain cell function and an important precursor for the synthesis of steroid hormones such as vitamin D, estrogens, cortisol, and testosterone. As you will see in my blood test below, after eating high fat, medium protein, and low carbs for four months my testosterone shot through the roof.
For those of you who like to research, here is Uffe Ravnskov is Dr.med and Docent from Denmark. In this lecture held at Kostholdskonferansen 2013, Oslo January 24th https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pMf3aFSdNag “Dr. Uffe Ravnskov said, “recently several health authorities have realized that the vilification of saturated fat was a mistake and many trials have shown that doing the opposite may solve the problem.”
99% of all info on the net discussing a ketogenic diet misses the importance of cleansing the first month on a ketogenic diet for two important reasons:
1. Organs and glands that work at their optimal levels minimize adverse effects many experience the first few weeks when making such a big change.
2. The healthiest diet on the planet will lack the fat loss you seek due to a clogged liver (fatty liver). The Keto Cleanse assists all organs and glands of the body to work at their optimal levels especially during the first phase of eating a ketogenic diet.

Here are my lab results over a four month period:
April 2018, blood test results
Cholesterol 130/59 130 LDL 59 HDL Cholesterol is not bad, it’s an essential lipid molecule found in all animal cells.
Triglycerides 68 Normal triglyceride range: less than 150 mg/dL
Testosterone 850 The normal range in males is about 270 to 1070 ng/dL with an average level of 679 ng/dL
I used 50mg Clomid three times per week for years to raise my own testosterone levels which are the high side of normal as you see above.
August 2018, I had my blood tested again.
Cholesterol 98/59 130 LDL 59 HDL
Triglycerides 55 Normal triglyceride range: less than 150 mg/dL
Testosterone 1400 The normal range in males is about 270 to 1070 ng/dL with an average level of 679 ng/dL
Now 1400 testosterone is way too high. Dangerous levels if left there for a long period of time. So, I backed off of Clomid to once per week.
Notice April blood results were already healthy. By August my triglycerides and LDL decreased, and they didn’t need to but wow!
However, eating the keto way increased my testosterone to an unhealthy level. The benefit is that I’m able to use less medication to raise my testosterone levels.
Not shown here, my vitamin D levels (also a hormone) were also too high. I consumed 10,000 IU’s vitamin D3 seven days per week for years with normal blood levels.
Since changing my diet I had to back off to 1 10,000 IU per week. Let’s see, I’m saving money by using less medication and supplements, my food bill decreased by $300 per month and my hormones increased due to the amount and type of fat I ate.
My results match the consensus of MD’s PhD’s and nutritionists alike to subscribe to the benefits of keto eating.
