How Much is Your Health Worth?

“If I were worth $5 million I would ________________________. “

24You’ve probably played this game the last time you picked up a lottery ticket, and your list may range from “take more trips” to “pay off my student loans.” For those really in that spot, they aren’t just doing those things – they are also getting healthy. According to a recent survey, those with the highest net worth (over $5 million) are the most frequent exercisers and rate staying healthy as their top health concern.

You may be thinking, “Of course, if I had that type of money I’d be able to afford healthier foods or the pricey gym membership.” The truth is, you don’t have to spend tons of money to get healthy, and the reward it absolutely priceless. Furthermore, the point of this article isn’t to make you feel that if you aren’t a millionaire you are destined to be unhealthy. In fact, it’s to ask:

What are your priorities?

Are you taking good care of yourself? I mean REALLY making an effort to live healthier? If you aren’t able to answer this with a resounding YES, then let’s take a look at what’s holding you back. There are a million reasons why people fail to do the things necessary to live healthy. Work schedules, family commitment, lack of money, lack of time… but many times it’s a lack of motivation and stick-to-it-ness.

What is your excuse?

There are always reasons to choose the unhealthy route. Quite frankly, it’s easier to stay in the patterns that have landed you in your current state. Take a look at your behaviors then step back and identify the excuses you’ve allowed yourself to get away with – ultimately keeping you from true change.

Expect more from yourself, don’t’ give into the idea that you will start on Monday, or once you make enough money you will start exercising more. There are simple things you can do each day to live healthier, and you don’t have to be a millionaire to do them.

o   Those minutes should be above and beyond your normal daily activity. Get your heart rate up and find something you can stick to

o   Get out for a walk, run through the neighborhood, have a personal trainer design a home workout for you – whatever it is, get moving
